Roles within the Partnership
Who does what to help reduce offending and re-offending:
- Police - Enforcement; providing intelligence, targeting and sharing data and information; helping with problem solving; working with partners to influence use of Community Payback; support delivery in communities by influencing and coordinating activities such as Neighbourhood Watch schemes and Victim Support; working with third sector initiatives; and community engagement.
- Police Authorities - Ensuring alignment between the policing plan and CSP Partnership plan; providing oversight of the police budget contribution towards activities aimed at reducing reoffending; ensuring the police are maximising their role in the CSP to reduce reoffending; suggesting additional ways that the police may, either in their own operational duties or through strategic engagement with the partnership, contribute to the reducing reoffending agenda
- Local Authorities - Information and community engagement; providing and commissioning services; responses to victims of reoffending; and joined up partnership working.
- Fire and Rescue - Reducing rates of fire setting among high-risk groups: helping to reduce the potential for reoffending through positive motivation and encouragement and thus helping to reduce the cost to society of crime; Tackling deliberate fires.
- Health: Tackling the misuse of alcohol, drugs and other substances, specifically through commissioning and providing appropriate health services; identifying and providing advice and support for victims of domestic or sexual abuse; providing health advice or treatment for people who put themselves or others at risk; working with other local partners to help prevent problems occurring in the first place.
- Probation: Offender management; information; intelligence; commissioning services; support for local services; problem solving; co-financing of services; Community Payback.
